Recommendations from practice

These stories from across ActionAid and partners dig into the role that ActionAid can play in strengthening the movements that we work with - and what needs to change in how we work today.

About the skillshare

This blog accompanies a skillshare event in Arusha, Tanzania, in which a group of civil society practitioners are gathered to share experience, discuss and develop our practice of how NGOs and movements are working together.

Purpose of the skillsshare

The purpose of the skillshare is to support a better understanding of how NGOs can work with with social movements and in alliances and how to strengthen the action orientation of the programme and campaign work at LRP levels to plan and take direct action.

What is a skillshare?

The skillshare is different from a training in that it’s primary content comes from the experience brought in by the participants and the discussions following rather than a predefined curriculum.

Participants are building their skills and peer network by sharing experiences and approaches from their own practice. The skillshare centers around bringing out stories of how participants have worked with social movements and direct action.
